Ernie Siegried - Pastoral Assistant (back to top)

Ernie joined the staff of Hope Lutheran in January, 2003, as the Pastoral Assistant. Prior to coming here, he served for 17 years as the President and C.E.O. of Lutheran Congregational Services, a social ministry agency of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod, E.L.C.A. He has held various synodical positions and has supplied in many congregations over the years. Ernie's wife Deb is employed by St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem as a registered nurse. She and Ernie have a blended family of five children and ten grandchildren, four boys and six girls. The families are spread geographically from Rhode Island to Georgia. Ernie has a passion for the mountains, especially the Colorado Rockies, where he goes each fall to hunt for elk. He and Deb have a vacation home in Potter Couinty, Pennsylvania, where they enjoy snowmobiling and other activities.


JaneTretiak - Parish Secretary (back to top)

Jane Tretiak joined the staff of Hope Church as parish secretary on August 11,1997. She worked full time for Wachovia Bank before beginning her position at Hope. She is married to Ed Tretiak and they have 2 children. Steven married to Holly (Beal) and Rachel who is a student at Wilkes University. They have one granddaughter, Alexandra. Jane and her family joined Hope Church in 1988. In her spare time Jane likes to travel, read, auctions/yard sales, movies and to spend time with her family (especially her granddaughter) and her friends.


David Ziegler - Director of Music (back to top)

David Ziegler joined the staff at Hope Lutheran Church as Director of Music in September of 1989. He teaches and directs adults, youth, and children in the Senior, Youth, Junior and College choirs who sing in church regularly. Once every two years, the choirs all come together to perform a full length musical. In 2008, David arranged for the church musical to be performed at the Roxy Theater in Northampton where Sunday worship was held for one special week. He also created the Hope Orchestra. The orchestra consists of people of all ages and levels of experience. David has arranged various pieces of music for the orchestra to play on special occasions throughout the church year. The orchestra also occasionally accompanies the Senior Choir as well as the church musical.

David also works with the Bell Choir director and Cherub Choir director to oversee the overall music program at Hope. He plays in the Reformation Ringers bell choir under the direction of Janet Filchner. He has a degree in music education and is employed full time at American Express as a computer systems architect. When not at church or at work, he enjoys music, travelling, computers, bicycling and singing with Lehigh University Choral Union. David is married to Kathy Ziegler and has three daughters: Stephanie, Stacey and Shelbey, all of whom are heavily involved with the music program at Hope.


Janet Filchner - Bell Choir Director (back to top)

Janet Filchner and her family joined Hope Church in 1985. She has participated in many of the church's programs over the years. She has been a member of the Senior Choir since 1990, and for many of those years has served as substitute organist/pianist. She occasionally plays with the church orchestra, and participated in the dedication of our grand piano in 2004. Janet was involved with the Sunday Church School program as a former Level I catechetical teacher, as a director of the Sunday School Christmas Program, and currently is one of the music directors for the Sunday School Christmas Programs. Janet has been involved with Vacation Bible School since 1987, and currently serves as music director for VBS. Janet is a member of the Worship and Music committee, and has been its chairperson since 1999. When a three-octave set of Schulmerich handbells was donated to the church in 2007, Janet accepted the offer to serve as director of handbells and to begin the church’s handbell program. Janet and her husband, Dave, have a son Mark, and a daughter, Melissa.


Trudy Mertz - Treasurer (back to top)

My name is Trudy Mertz and I have been the Treasurer at Hope since 1981. In addition to being Treasurer, I am currently a member of the Finance Committee and the Altar Guild. I have been a member of Hope since its inception and was a member of Christ Little Moore since birth. I have a daughter Gwen who is married and currently a fourth grade teacher. She grew up at Hope and was my faithful helper for many years. I live in Moore Township where I enjoy walking, gardening and spending time with family and friends. I retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporation in 2003 after almost 35 years of service. I am currently working for Jacobs, Kenneson & Co., a CPA firm in Allentown.


Debbie Gardner - Financial Secretary (back to top)

According to the reports in my briefcase I became the Financial Secretary 01/01/01.....I am married to Jim for almost 39 years.....have 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren ( 4 grandsons and 2 granddaughters ).....I work full time at Guardian Insurance as a RECON Specialist.....even though we haven't gone for 2 years, I guess you could say I enjoy camping, singing on the church choir and most recently playing in the "Bells of Hope" bell choir. I enjoy watching my grandchildren play sports, such as soccer, baseball, basketball and horseback riding.
