Hope Lutheran Nursery School

At the present time, Hope Lutheran Nursery School has an enrollment of 47 four-year-olds (2 classes of 16 children and 1 class of 15 children) and 28 three-year-olds (2 classes of 14 children).

Registration for the 2008-2009 school year started in September. The A.M. 4-year-old classes are full. However, we still have a few openings in our P.M. 4-year-old class, which meets Mon., Wed., and Fri from 12:30 - 3:00 and our 3-year old classes, which meets on Tues., and Thurs. from 9:00 – 11:30. Anyone interested in registering can do so by calling the nursery school at 610-767-7203.

All the children seem to be enjoying our nursery school program. In September the children learned about Johnny Appleseed, picked apples, learned about our five senses, and had fun painting. In October we learned about autumn, fire prevention and Columbus. We went pumpkin picking at Byler’s Farm and Strawberry Acres, visited the Lehigh Township Fire Co., and had Halloween parties.

In November our children learned about the harvest season and the first Thanksgiving. They made Indian and Pilgrim costumes and gave thanks at our Thanksgiving program and feast. Parents visited the classrooms during American Education week. Other fun activities included Show ‘n Tell, Painting day, Gym day, Science day and Fun with Food day. In December the children learned the true meaning of Christmas and helped Beverly Goll tell the nativity story. They made gifts for their parents and many other Christmas crafts. They also collected food for Hope’s Food Pantry. Everyone enjoyed our annual Christmas program and parties and our very special visitor.

Many learning experiences and activities are planned for the months ahead. A few of these include: learning new songs, sending Valentine cards, visiting the dentist, the police and the vet, learning about good nutrition, celebrating springtime and Easter, hearing Bible stories, making many craft projects, and practicing for our Nursery Rhyme program and our fun-filled Circus.

We would like to thank all the parents for their support and their generous donations, and Edith and the Senior Citizens for the many things they do for us. We would also like to thank Pastor Kuntz and Ernie Siegfried for all their encouragement, Jane for acting as our church secretary and much more, and Hope Church for the use of their wonderful facilities. Thank you also to all the members of Hope who participate in our Campbell’s labels for education program, the Imagine Nation book sale, our Joe Corbi pizza/cookie dough sale, and our Turkey Hill Moo Money bottle cap program. We appreciate your support.

Respectfully Submitted,
